Schwinn S-500 electric scooter

As any regular readers know, I've been working on building an Electric Vehicle for some time. Recently, there have been some design related setbacks to my main project. Ron stumbled across a great deal on a (presumably 2007) Schwinn S-500 on Craigslist. It needed new batteries, and I found a deal on Ebay. I ended up paying roughly $1.75/ah (at 12v), which seems to be a very good deal for smallish (new) SLAs.

The 12ah's ended up a bit taller than I'd anticipated, and even with some modification to the deck lid, they wont be fitting. I have a plan to fabricate a new deck lid that's a bit taller. We'll see how that goes.

Knowing now how new the scooter is, I'm suspect of something in that the original batteries were destroyed. I'll be keeping a close eye on the charger, as it seems the mostly likely.

Now that I know that Becky's into it, I'll be putting in some more work. I'll be sure to update here, as I go.
