Tivo

At Becky's behest, we got a Tivo a while back, after numerous false starts and various failings building my own PVR. My main argument against Tivo was the issues involved in getting the shows off of the device to archive them (and store more than the measly 80 hours a standard Tivo holds).
I ended up finding a number of ways to access the files on the Tivo:
- The official Tivo software
- Via the Tivo's built in Web interface (at https://TIVO_IP/nowplaying/index.html)
- Tivo dumping software like eTivo or This little thing written by some guy named Filipe...
From there, you'll need to decode the .tivo files, assuming you want to watch them in something that doesn't support their DRM encrustation. eTivo will do the conversion for you, leaving the files as bare mpegs, otherwise DirectShow Dump will let you do it manually.
