Another Site Overhaul
You might be wondering what happened here, and the short answer is that I got lazy. A while back (like a year ago), I’d evaluated a switch to WordPress (From my highly customized MediaWiki) and decided that I liked the control that the existing solution gave me.
Now, my requirements have changed a bit. During 2010, I found that I spent less time online than in the past, upgraded to an Android-based phone, and my posting habits have changed. I find that I now have more serialized content (less bulk reference material), and tend to prefer shorter, easier and more frequent posts. I’d also like to start posting from my mobile (which I could do today, but sucks using MediaWiki).
I’d initially thought about sticking with the old system and developing a mobile-friendly custom front end for generating new pages, but when I realized that a WordPress app already existed for Android, I was sold. There’s still a bit of work to be done on the theme, but that’ll be along shortly.
Old site content hasn’t been lost, but won’t likely be updated anytime soon. Click here to see the old site… No promises about neat front-page functionality, though. Any content that needs edited/updated again will be ported into the new site as needed (continued projects, etc)
Technology, Travel and Everything Else
Conformist!
Maybe so… I will be posting all the code for my old MW RSS solution in a few days,so at least that’s a consolation prize.
