Painting Minis
I’ve been in to painting miniatures (minis, figurines, figs, etc) for some time, and have a handful of minis that I use for D&D. Recently, Richard was lamenting his boring gray pieces for his Last Night on Earth game. I volunteered to paint them in batches for him. The process I use is pretty straight forward: Base coat with spraypaint (usually black), paint with either enamel or acrylic hobby paints (and really small brushes), then use a matte-finish clearcoat over the top. This is by no means a tutorial, nor am I any kind of master painter. It’s just for fun and very different from most of my other hobbies.
Relatedly, I’ve been working on improving my photo quality, especially when the subject is a small object. I tend to do better with landscapes or larger objects (outdoors, usually). To that end, I snapped a few photos of the miniatures I’ve been painting on the last few days.
It should be noted that these are both “in progress” and haven’t had the last of the detail work done yet, nor have they been clear-coated. Painting these plastic figs is something of a challenge, as they don’t seem to like the paint very much… For my part, I really prefer painting pewter minis, though the hard-plastic “HeroQuest” style ones are ok too.
