New Bike Shoes on the Cheap

February 28, 2011

Tonight, I picked up a pair of Shimano MD86 bike shoes.  I’ve wanted to try clipless pedals for some time, and have had the pedals for almost a year, but just never got around to finding shoes.

I found this particular pair on clearance at Scheels.  Google Shopper (on my phone) said that list price is around $120, but I paid less than $50 on clearance.  The real kicker is that they wanted $25/pair for the cleat part (it’s a little metal washer-like thing that bolts to each shoe)… I thought that was a bit obscene, so I ordered a pair online when I got home for $11.

I don’t have  a ton to say about the shoes yet (as I can’t try them until the cleats arrive by mail), but I’m hoping for quick shipping and good weather by the end of the week.
