This won’t be my usual excessively verbose review, as I haven’t really had a chance to dive into the subject matter yet, but I picked up the new Barry Eisler short-story  (and preview of this upcoming book) last night, and wish I’d have known about Smashwords sooner.

Smashwords’ claim to fame is “Your ebook, your way”, and for that reason alone, I’d give them my money in the future.  I’ve been buying books via Amazon, and reading them (unfortunately) via the Kindle app for either my phone or my laptop, even though I have an older Sony Reader (which works great).  Downloading books directly as HTML or ePub would be a huge boon.

As far as pricing goes, they seem very competitive.  Obviously (and sadly), though, they don’t accept Amazon gift cards…
